Miracle on Mack Street

There has been a miracle in the Keefer household.

Last night I decided that I was going to start to 'cry it out' (CIO) with Sarah. It's gone on long enough with me nursing her to sleep. Nursing for naps are okay for me during the day because I don't really mind all that much. But at night when she is getting up every few hours out of habit to use me as a human pacifier...I'm getting worn down.

Now, Sarah hasn't taken a bottle or a pacifier since she was about a few weeks old. Here lies a big problem with ever giving myself a break. I would bring out the 50 different pacifiers that I have and try them every once in a while. Last time was a few weeks ago. It was a big No Go! All she wanted to do was bite them and spit them out.

This brings me to last night and our new plan to CIO. I figured I would bring out a few pacifiers one more time. I was going to go upstairs and feed her then try and slip one in her mouth as she is half asleep so that she can suck on that and not ME! And what do you know? IT WORKED! *happy dance happy dance happy dance*

That little punk of a princess started sucking on that thing and didn't gag on it like ALL the other times I have tried it. Finally! I might get to take a break from being a human binky. :-)

So she went to bed about 8:15pm and slept until 1am! I got her up, changed her and fed her, then tried the binky again. She was in her milk induced coma and she only wanted to bite at it. So I put her down without it hoping she would do okay. She woke up at 3:30 and I almost went to go get her but stopped myself. She only made a few cries and then went back to sleep until 5am. I'll take it!!!!!!

Her 5am is what I wish was my 9am. She seriously just can't seem to sleep past it! Maybe one day a week I'm able to get her back to sleep but even then it's only until 6am. The little woman needs to stop it. So the rest of the week is going to be lots of trial and error with her napping and sleeping schedule to try and get her to sleep better at night and to sleep better for naps during the day.

But I had to share my awesome news of her taking a pacifier. Please pray that she continues and keeps it up. I had a great night of sleep, despite having a horrid cold, and want to have MORE! :-)

Good luck with the sleeping situation. Liliana still gets up throughout the night and has a bottle!
